“Cookery is not chemistry. It is an art. It requires instinct and taste rather than exact measurements.”             Marcel Boulestin

And the best ingredients! Susie Barnes, owner and chef of Dot’s as of  November 2017 is no stranger to the kitchen. She honed her skills as a mess cook on her parent’s schooner, The Stephen Taber and served up gourmet fare on the MV Pauline. After attending Johnson & Wales, she returned to Rockland and ran the successful Waterworks for 8 years until she sold it to concentrate on raising her daughter. Back at the stove, she is enlivening the legacy of Dot’s with years of well honed recipes that harken back to the comfort of family meals prepared with fresh and local ingredients.

Mornings at Dot’s start with a cornucopia of homemade muffins, scones, croissants, quiches and our super popular breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Steaming hot coffee, barista drinks & teas are waiting to boost you up for the day whether your headed to work or out to Islesboro on the ferry to enjoy the beauty of Penobscot Bay. Freshly made soups and gourmet deli sandwiches are always on the ready to enjoy in the cozy comfort of the store or to grab-&-go. Our prepared food case is stocked daily with delicious selections to eat in or take home and enjoy – menu items change daily but there are always proteins, sides and vegetables. And don’t forget a sweet treat! Cookies, cupcakes, cakes, pies and artisan candy galore!
